Believe

As soon as I saw this necklace on Bradford Exchange I knew I had to have it. Not because I am terribly fond of butterflies and flowers but more because of the writing on the back.

All writers know that writing is a hard and lonely road filled with doubts and hopelessness. Yes, writing is a very rewarding task but as with everything it also has its dark days. That is why writers have something they hold on to during those troubled times. Something that will help them keep working on their dream, something that will remind them that giving up is not an option.

This necklace is a way for me to not forget why I write, despite of all the frustrations and setbacks I keep encountering. Whenever I feel myself giving in to self-doubt and giving up I just touch my necklace and remember the words written on the back. I am then reminded that first and foremost, I have to believe in the beauty of my dreams. It may be hard now but one day, this will be all worth it. The keyword is to believe, to believe in ourselves and in our dreams. If not, then nothing remains, all of the things we do will be for naught.

UNMASKED is not just about someone dealing with Bipolar Disorder, it’s also a story of hope. Of how a person can spiral so low but still manage to fight against the turmoil and find one’s self. It is everyone’s story of trial and tribulation, how going through the hottest of fire can make us stronger and wiser if we hold on long enough and refuse to give up.

UNMASKED now available at central.com.ph, sulitbooks.com, blink.com.ph,and facebook.com/genevievelvwisen.com (please send me a PM) ^_^

August 2015 ^_^

What happens when your world is shattered from within? When you can’t run nor hide from yourself?

UNMASKED is a poetry novel that deals not just with Bipolar but generally, with the darkness in all of us. When it overwhelms us, threatens to consume us, and how we fight to regain ourselves. It is a story of loss, hope, and survival.

Thank you, Maraming Salamat, Muchas Gracias, Xie Xie ^_^

To everyone who followed my blog and liked my posts:

A big, fat THANK YOU!!! You have no idea how much it means to me that you like my posts, and my whole blog.

When I started this blog, all I wanted was to finally break out of my shell and be comfortable with getting my writings out there. The reason was I wanted to pursue an M.A. in Creative Writing but I kept backing out due to the fact that I had to read my work out loud for my classmates and professors. I can’t do it, I’m too shy. Hence, the blog.

I never expected anyone to actually like my poems or anything else I’d post so this is a bit overwhelming. In lieu of this, I’d like you all to be the first to know that some of the poems I posted is part of a book of poems I’m completing. I hope you’ll like the poetry book as much as you liked reading the individual poems.

To hansales1088: sorry I haven’t made anything yet for the story you liked. Don’t worry though, it is one of the projects I have lined up. I’ll send you some of the chapters for it if you want ^_^

Again, thank you very much. As we say in Filipino: maraming salamat! God bless you all ^_^

Living in Faith

As
the fog
slowly
lifts
as
the mist
slowly
parts
my palms
press together
my knees
touch the ground.

Peace
surrounds me
relaxing
my
distraught mind
reminding me
I
am
not alone,
reminding me
I
am strong.

As
the fog
slowly lifts
as
the mist
slowly parts
my head bows down
my lips
utter
a prayer.

Peace
surrounds me
relaxing
my
distraught mind
reminding me
I
can
stand up,
reminding me
I can
win.

This poem is part of Anaktisi, the Second Part of UNMASKED
