Good writing, according to me! Haha!

Breathe life into your writings so it can stand alone, apart from the writer but still part of him.

The ability to touch a person’s heart and leave an imprint on the soul. That’s what good writing should be!

You

who made me

believe

in love again

cured

my wounded heart

showed me

the path

to ever after

once more,

you

who made me

laugh and love

with my

whole heart again

you

who made me

the way

I was once more –

you

broke my heart

shattered

it to pieces

I

have never

felt

lonelier than now

as I feel

love slowly

fade away,

to be

the person

I was

when we met.

Why

was I

foolish

to think,

to hope?

Love

is nothing

but a game,

a gamble,

a risk

and

I am

but a

coward,

fleeing

at the

challenge.

A Love Story

Take my hand
take my soul
conquer me, my love
I submit to your heart;
mesmerize me under the stars
awaken my deepest desires,
know my passions
unleash my dreams
let us be united
let us be bound
for I am yours
and you are mine.

Remembering
our romantic walks,
late night talks
some of love’s recipes
we enjoyed;
our picnics by the lake
cuddles by a tree’s shade
picture perfect memories
captured under the sun’s soft rays;
that day
you gave me your hand
you gave me your soul
I conquered you honey,
you submitted to my heart
I knew then it has began
forever, you and I
for you are now mine
and I will be irrevocably yours.

Never Alone

It was all so sudden. Aileen still feels like she is in a nightmare.

“May God welcome him into his kingdom…” Fr. Valdez looked sober enough while saying those words but was all those true?

Memories of the past flooded her mind. They were coming home from the grad ball. The sky was sparkling with stars; the wind was warm enough to excite the senses but had a bit of a chill for some cuddling with that special person. It was one of those nights that people read in books and watched in movies.

Next week was the graduation but it was not the only reason why her spirits were up. That night, under the diamonds of the sky, Jeff proposed and she accepted.

She wanted to decline at first but looking in his eyes she saw her future and all else faded. This is her destiny. Then, in a horrid twist of fate, she was robbed.

“Why did he have to arrive at the exact moment we made a turn?” Aileen wondered aloud. Her voice was full of hatred and tears welled in her eyes.

“It was that damned drivers fault. Him and his damn truck and damn alcohol.” Aileen said as she absent-mindedly beat the gravestone with the flowers she brought. Hopelessly, she lay next to it and tenderly traced Jeff’s name.

Tonight was the same night as last year but now, she’s alone. All alone with no one to comfort her. Weeping silently, she gazed at the stars twinkling brightly at her. She hated those stars; their seeming cheerfulness feels like they’re mocking her.

Suddenly at the corner of her eyes she saw something different. It glowed brighter than the rest but something in it seemed to comfort her. It felt like it was watching over her as if it were her very own star.

“The north star,” a voice behind her said.

Aileen carefully stood up and smiled at Mang Pedro, the cemetery caretaker.

“The north star is the brightest of all the stars,” he continued. “It doesn’t sparkle that much but it offers comfort to those in grief.”

Aileen stared at it, feeling hope surge through her for the first time since the tragedy. “Could it be my star?” she shyly asked. “My guiding light?”

Mang Pedro smiled sympathetically and lightly touched Jeff’s gravestone. “It can be anything you want.” Winking, he turned around and headed towards his cottage.

Aileen sighed and looked back at the once nameless star. She still feels empty inside but the star was starting to warm her heart. She knew now – she will never be alone again.

Tentative Last Chapter

Hello! ^_^ The idea for this book started a long time ago, I think back in 2004. It has been a work in progress since then. Two months ago, I had the strong urge to write a chapter for it and as I was writing, I had a feeling it’s the last chapter to the book. It’s a very rough draft but I hope you’ll still like it (Note: The last line sounds really corny to me so if you feel the same, don’t hesitate to agree :P) ^_^

Love is when the heart speaks
and when our eyes truly see
Love is when our laugh rings true
and when the heart is finally free

I saw a glint of recognition in his eyes, the first time we met. My world stopped and now I know why. That was the day his heart spoke and mine answered.

Jacob stirred in his sleep and interrupted Lana’s thoughts. This here, this is perfection. Lana resumed thinking as she bent her head and tenderly kissed Jacob’s forehead.

“Hey you,” Jacob slowly opened his eyes. He reached up his right hand and tenderly caressed Lana’s cheek. For the first time in his life he found meaning, here in this dream of dreams. He had found love, despite all the odds. He still wasn’t sure what the future held. He may be utterly, irrevocably in-love but this is still life. And life, with all its twists and turns, is volatile.

“Penny for your thoughts?” Lana asked.

Jacob crinkled his nose and almost burst out laughing. “No one really says that these days.”

“Says you,” Lana replied as she stuck her tongue out at him.

Jacob laughed as he got up from her lap. He sat beside her and gently pulled her to him for a hug. He kissed her temple and felt right, with himself and with the world. “Life may be volatile but love will keep us safe,” he thought resolutely. Through all the arguments, bickering, and misunderstanding there will also always be hope, trust and unwavering faith in what we have. Our love; it may not be the stuff of legends nor as great as a Shakespearean drama but it is ours.

Lana smile at him and began to gather all their picnic stuff. With a sigh, he stood up and started to help her. Lana touched his arm and look at him, concerned.

“Seriously Jake, what’s wrong?”

He mussed her hair and kissed her cheek. “Seriously Lans, nothing. I guess I just don’t want this day to end yet. I know I’m being mushy but come on, don’t you think we deserve at least one whole day together? Just you and me, no interruptions.”

Lana smiled and thoughtfully examined the ruffled edges of the picnic basket. “I think we need a new basket,”

Jacob rolled his eyes. Here he was being a total cheese ball and she was worried about the state of her picnic basket?

Lana grinned and winked at him. “Our days together will never end Jake, not now-not ever. This is just the beginning.”
